Your Stay

Please follow these guidelines to ensure your admission is as smooth as possible:-

Commence fasting at the time nominated by your doctor.  You may take any normal prescribed medications as usual with a sip of water, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

  • Please shower and wash your hair before arriving at the Surgery.
  • Do not wear jewellery, nail polish, fragrance or deodorants.  All jewellery must be removed before your procedure.
  • Do not bring large sums of money, jewellery or other valuable items, as we cannot accept responsibility for their security.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes with a front opening or button top.

Do not smoke on the day of the procedure.

If you wear glasses or contact lenses, please bring a case for their safekeeping  

You may wish to bring a book to read as there may be a period of time to wait before your procedure.

Children may wish to bring a favourite toy or book.  For infants, we ask parents/guardians to bring any baby formula, feeding equipment and nappies that may be required.

Allow sufficient time to arrive at the Hospital and be comfortable before your procedure.  The time indicated on your admission form is the time you should arrive at Adelaide Day Surgery.  Your operation will be approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours later, although it is not possible to give an exact time for your operation.

At reception, you will be asked to complete any outstanding paperwork/financial consent.

Please also remember to bring the following with you:-

  • Medicare Card
  • Pension / Veterans Affairs Card
  • Current medication/s that you take regularly
  • Any recent relevant x-ray/scans with you
