Patients requiring an endoscopy procedure, who are eligible under their private health cover with a participating health fund, can now access treatment at Dee Why Endoscopy Unit and be assured that there will be no out-of-pocket hospital or medical expenses associated with their hospital stay.*
The removal of out-of-pocket expenses means that eligible patients can now access endoscopy procedures at Dee Why Endoscopy Unit with all surgeon, anaesthetist, pathology and hospital fees covered.
While eligible patients must be in a participating health fund that covers ‘Gastrointestinal endoscopy’ and are liable for any excess costs associated with their policy, the removal of out-of-pocket expenses makes endoscopy more accessible to more Australians everyday.

An endoscopy procedure is any procedure using an endoscope (a long tube with a camera at one end and a lens at the other) which allows medical specialists to see inside a patient without the need for major surgery. Gastroscopy, colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy are all kinds of endoscopy procedures.
Eligible patients will not pay out-of-pocket expenses for the following services:
If you’ve chosen an excess or co-payments on your level of cover to lower your monthly premium, this will still be payable; for example, if you’re claiming for the first time that calendar year, you may need to pay an excess. Please contact your health fund to check your product eligibility and level of cover.
There may also be out-of-pocket expenses associated with outpatient appointments, such as your initial visit with a Participating Medical Provider in their consulting rooms. Please speak with your Participating Medical Provider to find out more.
Fees may apply if there are complications during your hospital admission that require additional care or services beyond what is included in the no-gap endoscopy program. Please speak with the Participating Medical Provider to confirm and ensure a valid Informed Financial Consent is given.
* hospital policy excesses and pharmacy costs for take home prescriptions (if applicable) still payable
