TWO NEW HOSPITALS FOR CURA DAY HOSPITALS GROUP
Adelaide Day Surgery was established in October 1993 and became the sixth member of Cura Day Hospitals Group in early April 2009.
Maralyn Masters, Director of Nursing at Adelaide Day Surgery, heads a team of over 20 nursing staff in a modern, superior facility centrally located at 18 North Terrace, Adelaide.
The hospital provides facilities for surgeons working in the specialty areas of ophthalmology, orthopaedics, plastic, oral and general surgery.
Adelaide Day Surgery has two operating theatres, 10 first stage recovery beds and 10 second stage recovery chairs.
Adelaide Day Surgery’s Director of Nursing, Maralyn Masters, has over 30 years' experience in patient care and hospital management.
Maralyn acknowledges the changes that have taken place in nursing over this time, and attributes the development of micro-technologies to the unique place day surgery holds in assisting with diagnoses for patients.
“With a range of surgical specialities available, it is vital our nursing staff keep their knowledge up-to-date”, Maralyn says.
Chesterville Day Hospital
We are also very pleased to welcome the Chesterville Day Hospital to the Group - our first facility in Victoria, located on the south-east side of Melbourne and about 20 minutes out of the city centre.
Chesterville Day Hospital first opened in 1985. In 2001 the hospital was rebuilt to the custom designed state-of-the-art facility it is today – with two theatres and ten recovery beds.
Whilst gastroenterological and urological endoscopy services remain the core business, there is a growing speciality in oral surgery and paediatric dental procedures. Clinical Manager, Bronwyn Harris, says “Four years ago all patients were adult (or over 16). Now 15% are children and most of these are less than 5 years of age. The staff at Chesterville have enthusiastically embraced these wonderful patients. We are very proud of our reputation for providing personalised care to all patients – big and little.”
